About This Website

I’ve been creating websites since around 1996. Other than a few meager little attempts, I created my first decent website for myself in 2006, under the domain www.MrAltenberg.net, which was my teacher website for Washington Middle School in SUHSD, Salinas, CA. In School Year 2006–2007, I taught science, computers and Journalism-Yearbook. I have preserved that site here, as a historical record of that period in my professional career. I have been slowly, for a number of years, trying to develop my business as a web designer and computer trainer/consultant. For some time, therefore, I have needed to develop a personal/professional website that reached beyond my role as classroom teacher. This website, www.TedAltenberg.com is my current attempt at meeting that need.

This website —like all the websites I build— uses W3C-compliant valid XHTML and CSS code, as well as PHP scripting. This website is hosted at HostMonster Web Hosting (www.hostmonster.com). I use GoDaddy (www.godaddy.com) as my domain registrar. I use Adobe Dreamweaver (www.dreamweaver.com) to hand code the web pages, and Adobe PhotoShop (www.photoshop.com) for image creation and editing. I used Graphic Converter by Lemke Software (www.lemkesoft.com/) to create the “fav icon.”

Thanks to Stu Nichols for his CSS menus (www.cssplay.co.uk/menus). Thanks to Netenberg (www.netenberg.com/fantastico.php) for all the great open source software available through Fantastico. The CSS code for the rollover image effect on my website portfolio is from www.dynamicdrive.com.

And I would like to thank Teacher John Govsky, my friend and web mentor, for his ongoing support and guidance in all things web. John is an outstanding teacher, and I highly recommend his web design classes at Cabrillo Community College, if you are in the Santa Cruz area and interested in learning web design.
