Ted Altenberg’s Website Portfolio

Here are a number of websites which I have created and/or maintain as webmaster. Most I have built from scratch; in a few cases I have updated or otherwise improved already-built websites. For each listing I have included a screenshot and a brief description of the website and the work I did. Links to the live sites are also included, where possible.

I build all my websites using W3C-compliant valid HTML/XHTML, CSS and PHP code, and follow federal § 508 accessibility guidelines! (Any validation errors are due to work by other web designers, on those websites built by others for which I have assumed responsibility, or that I built but are now maintained by other people.)

I have been updating and improving the GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) section of the PVUSD (Pajaro Valley Unified Schools District) website, as part of my work as GATE Resource Teacher for PVUSD. The domain name redirects to the GATE section of district website; www.pvusd.net/Departments/GATE/index.php. I continue to maintain and develop this website.

Volunteer webmaster for the Salinas Valley Federation of Teachers. I am currently maintaining and improving the site originally built by someone else; a total rebuild (XHTML/CSS/PHP) is in process.
www.SeanMMonaghan.com screenshot www.SeanMMonaghan.com screenshot www.SeanMMonaghan.com  (2006–2008)
Paid website job for Santa Cruz, CA artist, foundry owner and art instructor Sean Monaghan. I built this in 2005, before I switched from SSI (Server-Side Includes) to PHP. Part of the services I provided to Sean was to teach him enough HTML/CSS code, as well as introduce him to code editing and FTP software, such that he has been able to take over most of the maintenance of his own website. I occassionally help him as well.
ScrapMabuhay.com screenshot ScrapMabuhay.com screenshot www.ScrapMabuhay.com  (2006–2007, now offline)
Paid website job for a woman’s scrapbooking business. She wanted to learn to maintain the website herself, and I spent some time teaching her the basics of how the Internet worked, HTML, FTP, etc. But she was a newbie with limited computer skills/experience, struggling just to learn to navigate her way around Windows Vista. After several sessions, she stopped asking for my help. A while later I found her domain gone, though she has since recreated it with another web designer (www.scrapmabuhay.com). I have linked to local files of the site as I built it in May 2007 (using SSI).

Volunteer website job for a small charter home-school program. I built this website from scratch, using XHTML/CSS/PHP. I continue to maintain and develop this website.
Troop633.com screenshot Troop633.com screenshot www.Troop633.com  (2004–2006)
Volunteer website job for Santa Cruz Boy Scout Troop 633. I built this as my final project for Cabrillo College course “Web Publishing 3” (Dm 160C), using SSI rather than PHP. The site is now maintained by another person, though the overall layout and design are what I created.
